Level 4 Award In Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector

Qualification Aim:

This qualification is appropriate for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector, or for those who are required to achieve a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. This qualification will be taken by all teachers, in a full or associated role

Assessment requirements: internally assessed portfolio which includes a microteach session.

Aims and Objectives of the qualification

These qualifications aim to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required for teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector.

The objectives of the qualifications are to help learners to:

Understand the roles and responsibilities of the teacher

Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within
a specialist area

Plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teach session

Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

How is the qualification assessed?

 

Internal Assessment

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

The NCFE Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector are internally assessed. The candidate must produce a portfolio of work
that covers all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of this qualification. All learning outcomes within each candidate portfolio must be assessed by
Assessors in the centre using the specified assessment criteria. A reasonable sample of portfolios must then be assessed by an Internal Moderator to
ensure consistency with national standards.

Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated
with each unit. Learning outcomes and assessment criteria specify what each candidate has to achieve and are included within Section 3 of this Qualification
Specification.
