Child Protection Training
Duration 1 Day
For: Staff who work with children and adults with children
Course Aim: To enable participants to understand their roles and responsibilities in child protection, identify pre-disposing factors and indicators of child abuse and neglect.
Course Objectives: On completion of the course, participants should be able to:
• Understand the key principles related to the protection of children within the "Children Act", "Working Together" and "Framework for Assessment"

Recognise that where there are concerns about the protection of
a child.
•
Be aware of the pre-disposing factors of child abuse and neglect.
•
Understand what child abuse is and how to recognise it.
•
Respond appropriately to concerns about a child and/or family.
•
Be aware of the issues of confidentially and decision-making.
• Understand the importance of having access to local child protection procedures and guidance documents.
• Be aware of their own role and the roles and responsibilities of different agencies.
• Identify those professionals to consult for support and advice
• Raise awareness of the impact and effects of abuse on children.
• Develop an understanding of children's needs arising from abuse
• Create awareness of how you in your role alongside others can make positive impact
• Contribution to the recovery process for children.
• Identifying the roles and responsibilities of key personnel in the protection of children in sports organizations;
• Identifying elements of good practice;
• Examining the role of the designated officer in the implementation of the child protection policy;
