Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH

Prepares employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances
Qualification title change

The Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH qualification replaces the Principles of COSHH Certificate. The training programme remains the same, although we have produced a detailed, updated syllabus and a ‘How to deliver ’ document (see below).

The principal change is that, from now on, we will issue 30-multiple-choice-question examination papers that will be scan marked. Candidates will be allowed one hour to complete the exam. The switch to scan marking should make this qualification easier to deliver and reflects the CIEH’s commitment to robust and transparent assessment methods.

All centres and trainers currently registered to deliver the Principles of COSHH Certificate will be registered automatically to deliver the new award. The new scan-marked papers for the Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH will be issued as of 2 July 2007. Centres holding stocks of old-style examination papers can continue to submit manually marked results until 31 December 2007.

Prices for examination and training materials remain as published. An updated training pack will be published in due course.
