In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front-line staff only.

In setting standards for training we have taken into account the changing roles of those already employed in the industry and the requirements for new skills and knowledge.

 

To get the SIA qualification for CCTV operators you will need to attend a training course and take and pass an exam.

The course may be delivered over 4 days or during weekends and/or evening sessions.Training is delivered as follows:

The EDI Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) is a programme designed to meet the needs of learners who require a qualification, which will enable them to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence for operating CCTV for public space surveillance.

The qualification is based on the SIA specification for core competency (2009), which covers the necessary understanding and skills required by individuals who work to provide a more secure environment.

To provide the learner with the basic knowledge and understanding to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a CCTV operative; and to address the licensing requirements in the SIA regulated, operational environment
This programme is primarily aimed at learners who are working in the CCTV industry but can equally be of use to learners who may wish to transfer from other security industry sectors into CCTV operating.
